Muddy The Waters: MUD Review

IMG_4734_Fotor

I first came across MUD on Instagram, one of my favourite bloggers posted a photo of her having what looked like a very dirty bath. Curious as to why she was bathing in dirty water and according to the photo’s caption ‘loving it’, I delved a little deeper.

MUD is an all natural, detoxifying bath powder that has been designed to clear your skin and detox your body, all whilst relaxing in a nice warm bath. It is made up primarily of clay; bentonite clay and kaolin clay to be precise. Also in the mix is Himalayan rock salt, sandalwood powder, organic French lavender powder and aloe vera powder. A whole team of super ingredients chock-full of detoxifying properties to cleanse your body of all the toxins, parabens, preservatives and other nasties that build up living our everyday lives.

Not gonna lie, I was a little skeptical about the big claims the producers of this product were making but I tried it anyway. It was lovely. First of all, the novelty of having a mud bath is exciting in itself. The scent of sandalwood and lavender is so therapeutic I was in danger of falling asleep in the bath! The first time I tried it out my skin did feel a little irritated after, but the second time I made sure I rinsed in the shower extra thoroughly and that problem was solved; my skin felt lovely and I was so incredibly relaxed.

That night, I had the best nights sleep I have had in months. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an excuse to chill-out, have some “me time”, and really truly relax. Go on, you deserve it.

Michael Todd True Organics: First Impressions

MichaelToddCleanser_Fotor_Collage_Fotor

Honey & Oat Cleanser

I’m not sure why, but having watched so many YouTube videos reviewing this cleanser, I always pictured it as a creamy white cleanser. Just a heads up, it’s not. It looks like honey! Once I took a second to take that in (small things, hey) I immediately noticed the beautiful texture. It feels incredible; you only need a tiny amount of product to cover your face. It removes all my make-up and is perfect for removing eye makeup as it’s sulfate free and doesn’t sting your eyes (something I have discovered the hard way with other cleansers)! This cleanser has gently nursed my skin back to health and I haven’t looked back. 10/10.

Tropical Fruit Scrub

My very first impression of this product was that it smells like Starburst lollies. Like, exactly as if you were rubbing Starburst lollies on your face. This was a little off-putting at first, but I soon got used to it and…wow. My skin normally doesn’t react well to scrubs, it’s always made me break out and so I’ve learnt to steer clear. Not this one! It exfoliates enough to get the job done, but gentle enough so as to not harm the delicate facial skin. It leaves my skin feeling beautifully soft and clean without the drying effect I’ve experienced with other exfoliating scrubs. This product gets a big thumbs up from me!

Blue Green Algae Toner

Toning is not my strong suit. I used to do it when I was a teenager religiously, but was convinced it wasn’t doing anything and somewhere along the line I stopped. I’ve known for a while now that I should start toning again, but kind of put it off, until I bought this! Admittedly, I do sometimes forget to use it, but I’m always disappointed when I do because it feels so beautiful. The scent is relaxing (it smells so familiar but I just can’t put my finger on what it is!) and the product is so soothing and beautiful. My skin is left feeling supple and deeply cleansed. It’s also antibacterial and I am naming this product as the cure for my recently problem skin.

Right before my Michael Todd order arrived my skin was hectic; for some reason it had just decided to break out all over the place with no sign of going away. Within days of starting using these products my skin cleared up and looked better than it has in years! I get far too excited about cleansing my face now. These are definitely my new holy grail skincare products, and I’ve been raving about them to anyone who stops long enough for me to pop it into conversation I’ve even bought my mum a kit for her birthday! Shh, don’t tell her.

I’m keen to try out more of their products. What are your favourite Michael Todd products? What should I try next?

Mini Lush Haul

LushBig_Fotortop

I had always heard people rave about Lush. YouTube is filled with people describing the amazing qualities of their bath bombs and the scent of their new Lush Hand cream but I never thought it was worth so much money for one bath’s worth of bomb.

About a month ago I was having a lazy day and had gone in to the city to have a look around for a dress to wear to my best friend’s 21st . I wandered past Lush and decided to go and smell their bath bombs and hand creams for myself.

It turns out that their bath bombs DO smell absolutely incredible (but I’m still not convinced that I need to fork out so much money for a one-time thing.). I instead picked up a few of their other items that I didn’t even know they had.

Rub Rub Rub is a sea salt shower scrub that you can use all over your body. I have quite dry skin and some scrubs can aggravate this even more and give me eczema on my inner elbow (or whatever its called). Rub Rub Rub has been a life saver! It’s harsh enough to take off the dead skin and leave you with a silky layer of amazingness, but not so rough that it leaves you feeling red raw. I’ve used my tub all up and will definitely be re-purchasing it ASAP!

Eau Roma Water toner water is a toning mist that is amazing for dry skin. They had five different toner options when I was there and the girl said that this one was best suited to dry skin. Boy howdy was she right. It has rose water in it to brighten and soften the skin and lavender to help keep it supple. I spray it all over my face before I moisturize my skin morning and night, and I have noticed a massive difference in how moisturized my skin feels! I also use it as a refresher during the day if I’m feeling tired or worn out; the rose smell is so calming and the mist is super soothing.

The Olive Branch shower gel is a moisturising shower gel with olive oil to keep skin moisturized. This has been another hit as it keeps my skin super soft and nourished even if I forget to moisturize after I shower. There’s not too much else to say about this one. Definitely pick it up if you like to be clean and soft.

I have been looking for a powder dry shampoo for ages but could never find one in our local shops. For some reason spray dry shampoos just don’t work on my hair and they leave it looking dry and broken. So when I saw the No Drought dry shampoo in Lush I put it straight in my basket! No drought didn’t disappoint! This is the best dry shampoo to chuck on in the morning without having to worry about drying out your hair too much. I also use this off a night all over my hair if it’s a particularly oily mess and chuck my hair in a bun so that, by morning, my hair is looking super luscious and ready for another day.

All in all I have been very impressed by the quality of my first Lush products (and they didn’t break my budget). I am keen to know what I should buy next! What do you think? Do you have a favorite Lush product?
