My M.A.C Lipstick Collection

Ah, M.A.C lipsticks. M.A.C was my first makeup love and it’s a brand I always go back to.

M.A.C have 13 different lipstick finishes… Yes that’s right… 14! I only have their regular and permanent finishes so I’ll stick to them today but please let me know if I should try any of their other finishes in the comments!

Glaze finish: I don’t have any glaze lipsticks but I have been eyeing off Hue for a while now. They are the sheerest out of their range and have the smallest wear time so you have to re-apply quite often which is mostly what turns me off buying any.

Lustre finish: I’m quite a big fan of the lustre finishes. They don’t have the best wear time (around two hours) but that doesn’t bother me at all. They are quite sheer which makes them an easy-to-wear every day lipstick! Most of the lustres have a bit of a sheen (but nothing too full on) so if you aren’t big on that I’d stay away.

Cremesheen finish: I have to say, I have a love-hate relationship with the cremesheen formula. They are super creamy (as the name suggests) so don’t dry out your lips at all and have a nice opacity but they tend to wear off quite patchy on my lips. I don’t mind having to reapply my lipstick every two hours but I do mind if it leaves me looking like a weirdo in the mean time. They are a beautiful lipstick none the less and I find that some of them wear really nicely!

Amplified finish: This is one of my favourite formulas! They are super pigmented and wear beautifully on the lips! They aren’t matte or drying but are in no way glossy either. They last a good amount of time on my lips too and I tend to only have to reapply once in a work day.

Satin finish: Satins are my favourite! They are similar to the amplified formula in their pigmentation and last power but I find them to be even creamier and little less glossier again. One step closer to matte whilst still looking 3D.

Matte finish: M.A.C’s matte lipstick are my favourite matte lipsticks. I don’t find them to be drying but I’ve heard a few people say they do so maybe keep that in mind if you have super dry lips or a prone to cracking. They also last FOREVER! Brill!

Retro Matte finish: The retro matte formula is like powder on your lips. I only have one retro matte and I absolutely love the colour but I probably won’t be buying any more of the formula. You have to make sure your lips are super moist before applying this or you’ll look and feel like you just smeared dry cake mix on your lips.

M.A.C lipsticks are honestly my favourite! There are so many different finishes and colours that you are bound to find something that tickles your fancy. Hopefully my massive collection helps you in choosing either your 50th (if so, I’m jealous!!) or 1st M.A.C lipstick!

So, here it goes. My 25 (yes, I said 25) M.A.C lipsticks.

Pinky/Peachy Nudes:

pink:peach nudes

Myself, Plink, Honey Love, Shy Girl

Myself (lustre – limited edition): This is one of my go to lazy-day-nudes. It’s perfect if you are looking for an easy to wear nude.

Plink! (lustre): This is my FAVOURITE lipstick of all time! It’s easy to wear and ties a look together without being too over the top. I’m on my second bullet. You deserve to have Plink! in your life!

Honey Love (matte): This is one of my favourite standout nude lipsticks. It is very nude so it makes a great statement lip paired with a smokey eye.

Shy Girl (cremesheen): Can you tell I like lipsticks you can throw on without thinking? This is a creamier, peachier version of Myself and Plink! and it is just as pretty.

Brown/Neutral Nudes:

brown:neutral nudes

Viva Glam V, Modesty, Faux, Twig

Viva Glam V (lustre): This is like a mix between Myself, Honey Love and a brown lipstick. It’s sheer, easy to wear and absolutely lovely.

Modesty (cremesheen): Modesty is pretty much the same shade as my lips so I can’t go wrong with this one.

Faux (satin): This is probably my second favourite M.A.C lippie. I absolutely love Faux! It brings everything together and is one that I often throw on for work to look neat.

Twig (satin): Ah, Twig! You are beautiful! This is one I opt for if I’m feeling a bit more classy. It’s warmer than Faux but still in the same family of nude.

corals Ravishing, Coral Bliss, Vegas Volt

Ravishing (cremesheen): This is my number one lipstick over the Spring and Summer months! It’s super easy to wear and brightens everything up!

Coral Bliss (cremesheen): Coral bliss is very similar to Ravishing but I find that it isn’t as easy to wear for every day (slightly more neon) but it’s still a beautiful shade.

Vegas Volt (amplified crème): Vegas Volt = the mother of all coral lipsticks! … and the amplified crème formula rocks my socks off.

Pinks and Purples:

Pinks and PurplesViva Glam Miley Cyrus I, Good Kisser, Kelly Yum-Yum, Impassioned, Pure Heroine

Viva Glam Miley Cyrus I (Amplified – Limited Edition): This is not one for the faint hearted but boy howdy does it deliver on pigmentation. If you’re looking for a bright warm pink jump on this one before they sell out!

Good Kisser (Matte – Limited Edition): This is very similar to Viva Glam Miley but in a matte formula. Sometimes you feel like matte, sometimes you feel like creamy. Keep an eye out for Good Kisser in any future collections is you are pink lipstick lover.

Kelly Yum-Yum (Satin – Limited Edition): This is pretty much the same colour as the very popular permanent Candy Yum-Yum by M.A.C but in a satin formula instead of Candy’s matte which I personally prefer. It wears beautifully and is a lovely bright, cool toned pink.

Impassioned (amplified): Impassioned is another warm toned bright pink that is to die for! I find that I can even get away with this for workwithout looking like I’ve walked in from a night out.

Pure Heroine (amplified – Limited Edition): This was created in collaboration with the Queen Lorde herself so you know it’s a good one! I wear this on days when I’m feeling especially badass and ready to take on the world.

Blue-Based Reds:Blue Based Reds

Viva Glam I, Viva Glam Rihanna, Ruby Woo, Gospel, Hang Up

Viva Glam I (matte): This is one of my all time favourite reds! It does not budge but isn’t to drying and doesn’t wash out my alabaster skin. Two thumbs up!

Viva Glam Rihanna (frost – limited edition): I absolutely love the colour of this lippie but am not completely sold on the glitter. It’s lovely none the less but certainly not my go-to red.

Ruby Woo (retro matte): Ruby Woo is a classic blue based red that would suit any skin tone! My only complaint is the formula. I’m not huge on the retro-matte formula as it can be quite drying but if I prep my lips well enough it’s an absolute winner!

Gospel (lustre – limited edition): I mostly got this because it was a red AND a lustre finish… WHAT? I do have to build it up as I find one layer looks like my lipstick is wearing off but It gives the lips a lovely ‘bitten’ look with a few layers.

Hang-Up (cremesheen): This was my second M.A.C lipstick and one of my all time favourites. I love whipping it out during Winter and Autumn and find that it wears a lot longer than my other cremesheens! Yay!

Orange-Based Reds:

Orange Based Reds Excite, Lady Danger, My Inner Femme

Excite (lustre – limited edition): Again.. A lustre AND a red?! This is just as beautiful as Gospel! I tend to wear Excite more in the warmer months! It’s a lovely day-to-day red.

Lady Danger (matte): Lady danger is a classic and for good reason! It is an absolutely amazing orange-based red!

My Inner Femme (amplified – limited edition): This is the newest member of my M.A.C lipstick family and I am very proud to welcome it! My inner femme is a stunning orangey red with a creamier formula than lady danger making it more wearable day-to-day.

Good Collage two

Well there you have it! I think we all deserve a pat on the back and lip mask for making it through that! I hope it helped you in some way, even if it was just that it made you feel less guilty about how many lipsticks you own.

Let me know what M.A.C lipsticks I should try next!… Or recommend me a good psychiatrist. Your call.

Stay Beautiful,
