If I had to marry an inanimate object the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara would probably be it! I don’t want to be melodramatic but this is my favourite thing on this planet.

My mum bought me the mascara in Beyond Black when I first started getting in to makeup and I instantly started planning our marriage. This mascara packs a punch in the lengthening department but I find that I can tone it down on a more casual day without looking crazy.

Benefit just released two new colours (Beyond Blue and Beyond Brown) in their They’re Real! Mascara and I was quick to snatch up the Beyond Brown colour, which did not disappoint. Both colours are rich in pigment and give the same length and volume to the lashes but I like to wear the brown one on days where I want a more natural look or am wearing a brown smokey eye (the combo is SICK!).

The formula of the They’re Real! Mascaras isn’t flakey at all and never transfers on to my eye area (take it from a girl who is prone to panda eyes). The only complaint I have ever heard from other people about They’re Real! Mascara is how it is so hard to take off, but to be totally honest, that doesn’t bother me at all! I would rather take longer to take my makeup off than for it to transfer or not last. My mum bought the They’re Real! Remover to take it off with which she absolutely loves too so if you are having troubles maybe give that a go!

I’m on my fourth tube of They’re Real! Mascara and I can’t see myself giving it anytime soon!

I give the Benefit They’re Real! Mascara 4.75/5 stars.

They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner

The Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner is essentially gel eyeliner in a pen. I thought this was a really cool idea when it first came out and couldn’t wait to grab some! Unlike the mascara, the eyeliner comes in five different colours (Beyond Black, Beyond Brown, Beyond Blue, Beyond Purple and Beyond Green) and N and I bought the brown and black colours to try out.

The idea of this product is great! Who wants to stand around dipping a brush in to a pot of gel when they can have one handy pen to do it all for them? The tip is super fine making it easy to get a fine wing too. I’m just not a fan of the formula.

To start off, I can’t get it to go on evenly. Every time I apply this eyeliner I end up with gaps half way through my wing which, when I try to cover up with more product end up cakey and flakey. I find that my liner doesn’t last very long at all when I’m wearing this and it flakes on to my under eye area within an hour. I also end up wasting a lot of product as I try to twist it out of the end and it all comes out at once.

I have tried EVERYTHING to try and make the They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner work for me. From watching countless Youtube videos and tutorials, to setting it with a powder, wearing eyeshadow, not wearing eyeshadow, priming my eyes, not priming my eyes… I just can’t make it work, and I really wanted it to work.

I’m sorry Benefit, this one just isn’t for me.

I give the Benefit They’re Real! Push-Up Eyeliner 2/5 stars. Those 2 stars being for the awesome colour selection and the whole idea of the product.
