Dry Skincare Routine

Finding the right skincare routine for you can be a drag. As most of you know, I suffer with super dry, dehydrated skin. It’s also quite freckly and dull and I’ve always struggled to find the right mix of products to tackle these issues. I finally feel happy with my skincare routine and thought I would share it with you with the hope that it will help some of you with similar issues.

Cleanser:

I was sent the Skinstitut Glycolic Cleanser for reviewing purposes a few months ago and am pleased to say I think I have found the perfect dry skin cleanser! It is so brightening and I sometimes use it to remove makeup too (which it does an awesome job of)! I absolutely love this cleanser! Big thumbs up from me!

Scrub:

The Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub is another newer product that I love for my sin type! I use it about every second or third day depending on how my skin is feeling and it does a great job of cleaning my skin out without sucking all the moisture out at the same time! It has jojoba oil in it too which makes it nice and moisturising!

Toner:

I am absolutely in love with the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater! It is super hydrating and I use it both morning and night (and sometimes during the day as a refresher) as toner and I’ll definitely keep repurchasing it!

Oil:

I have fallen in love with the Skinstitut Multi-Active Oil after I was sent it in a PR package! It contains lots of lovely oils that brighten and hydrate my skin unlike any other serum or oil I have tried! I apply it both morning and night to my face and neck and let that sink in before I apply moisturiser.

Moisturiser:

An old favourite of mine is the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream for dry, sensitive skin! I have pretty sensitive skin and suffer from a few allergies that make my skin flare up so this is my favourite moisturiser for calming everything down and keeping my face moisturised all day – especially with the help of the Skinstitut oil! It’s also super cheap so you can’t really go wrong!

Eye Cream:

The Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye Concentrate is, as you can tell from the title, meant to be only used at night but I find it so moisturising that I use it both morning and night! Kathleen Lights got me on to this just over a year ago and I haven’t looked back! Sooooooo good!

SPF:

I use the La Roche-Posay 50+ very high protection stick every morning because it isn’t at all sticky or greasy and doesn’t make my makeup look weird over the top! I can’t find the stick form online but I bought it at Priceline and you can buy the liquid version which is just as nice here.

Lip Balm:

The Vanny P lip balms are created by a small business in Western Australia with all natural ingredients! At the moment I am loving the Floral Passion scent for a bit of spring loving!

Night Cream:

You have most likely heard me rave about the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask before – but it’s for good reason I promise! This product has absolutely changed my skin! You will wakeup feeling so hydrated and refreshed after using this, I promise! I sometimes use it on days when I’m feeling extra dry and am not wearing makeup too, it’s just that good!

Cleansing Mask:

The Tru Self Organics Detoxifying Mask is my absolute favourite clay face mask of all time! If I ever have a pimple I mix this up, pop it on for 20 minutes and once I have rinsed it off my skin looks 1000 times better! It isn’t too drying either so it’s safe to use if you are really dry!

Moisturising Mask:

This is the final Skinstitut product in this post I swear! Their Hydrating Mask is out of this world! If you are having a flare up of flakeyness or skin irritation chuck this on and you feel at least a million times better!

I know it might seem like a lot to do but trust me, for anyone who has dry, irritated skin you know how much it is worth getting rid of dry patches! Using these products will not only make your skin more radiant and hydrated but your makeup will sit on it so much better and look amazing!

I hope this has helped at least some of you!

Graduation Makeup

Finally the day came where I got to don my robe and flat hat and leave university behind! For anyone who has graduated or had any important event with photos before it is so daunting trying to figure out how you want to do your makeup, after all you’re stuck with those photos for a while.

I decided to go with a soft, natural look that I knew I would still love in years to come. Follow along to see how I created my entire look for my uni graduation ceremony a couple of weeks ago.

The Base:

I made sure I went with products I know and love for my entire face but I think it’s especially important to use base products that you know work well with your skin type and look great in photos. For primer I used the Becca Backlight Priming Filter and put my YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat on top. The combination of these two products always leaves my skin with a natural radiance and lasts a long time too. To conceal my under-eyes and lighten up around my nose I used the YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch Concealer in Radiant Silk. Then, using the same damp beauty blender I had used to apply those products I applied the Face of Australia Translucent Loose Powder under my eyes and on my nose and chin (i.e. anywhere you know you are prone to oiliness). I find that applying powder with my beauty blender not only leaves me with a natural finish but also makes the product last a lot longer and keeps my oil at bay.

The Brows:

Again, for my brows I used a product I know looks great and lasts for years, the Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow. It’s so easy to use and the colour matches my hair perfectly!

The Contour:

This is a newer product for my but as soon as I got the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer I knew it was true love! I applied this in a 3 shape on my cheeks as a sort of a bronzer/contour hybrid to sculpt and warm up my face. Trust me; buy this bronzer, you will not regret it.

The Cheeks:

JACLYN HILL IS A GODDESS! Her champagne collection palette is too die for. I’m telling you, if you haven’t already got this, go to Sephora right now and buy it… It will change your life! I used a combination of Pamplemousse and Amaretto on my cheeks and Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop on the top of my cheek bones, brow bone, cupids bow and down my nose.

The Eyes:

I had already primed my eyes with the concealer so I went straight in with the lightest shade in the Becca Ombre Rouge Eye Palette from my lashes to brow bone and along my lower lash line. Then I worked my way along the next three shades slowly building depth in my crease. Importantly, everything I did to my top lid, I did to my lower lash line, building dimension on both. With the second shade from the right I created a slightly darker outer-v to build some more dimension. This part of the eye look is totally up to your own preference, you can make it as dark or light as you like… you do you. Then, using the shade Bellini from The Too Faced Sweet Peach Palette (currently sold out on line so you can substitute this for any rose gold shade you have) on the outer 2/3 of my mobile lid. Then, to finish the look off I used Stila’s Eyeshadow Compact in Kitten on my inner corner and brow bone to add a pop and Benefit’s Roller Lash mascara on my top and lower lashes.

The Lips:

I kept my lips simple so it was easy to reapply if I needed to and used one of my all time favourite lippys, Tom Ford’s Pink Dusk that is a beautiful warm nude to go with the eyes and cheeks.

The Outfit:

For my outfit I decided to go with a simple monochrome look as my robe was bright orange (aka the clashiest of all the colours). I wore a Bec and Bridge Black and White dress and some Witchery black lace up wedges. Both of these aren’t available online anymore but again, you do you, wear something you’re comfortable in and think you’ll still like in years to come.

I hope this helps those of you that have an important event, or even a graduation coming up. Let me know in the comments below if you’ve recently graduated and what you wore.

Makeup Look: Too Faced Sweet Peach palette Winter Look

IMG_0021

It’s no secret that our Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette is one of our all time favourite eyeshadow palettes so when Too Faced came out with the Sweet Peach palette in the same format we jumped on it! It has the most glorious warm tones and a great amount of mattes and shimmers!

My favourite look for winter time with this palette is a warm smokey eye and warm nude lips. So let’s jump straight in to it!

The base:

IMG_0028

First I used my Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation (shade Fair Sand) with my Zoeva Silk Finish brush to create an absolutely stunning airbrushed effect! Then to cover my under eye circles I used my Laura Mercier Secret Concealer (shade 2) and blended that in with my fingers. On top of that I used my Kat Vond D Lock-It Concealer (shade Light 16) to lighten things up and also to cover any spots I had. To set all of that I used my Tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Powder on my T-Zone and under my eyes using Zoeva’s Powder brush.

The Cheeks:

To add dimension back to my face I used my The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer under my cheek bones, under my jawline, along my hairline and in my temples with my Zoeva Luxe Highight brush. Then, to add warmth and blend out my contour I used my new (and amazing) Too Faced Sweet Tea Baked Bronzer through the places I had already contoured with Zoeva’s Powder Brush. For blush I used my new favourite, Becca’s Mineral Blush in Flower Child with my Zoeva Luxe Sheer Cheek brush. To finish off my cheeks I swept Becca X Jaclyn Hill’s Shimmering Skin Perfecter Pressed in Champagne Pop along my cheekbones, cupids bow, nose and eyebrow bones.

The Eyebrows:

Hallelujah! How much better does everything look when your brows done?! For my brows I used my all time favourite brow product, Tarte’s Amazonion Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse in Medium Brown and the brush provided to carve out my brows and then Nars’ clear Brow Gel to set them in to place. To highlight my brow bone I used Benefit’s High Brow.

The Eyes:

To Prime my eyes I used Mac’s Prep and Prime 24Hr Extend Eye base and blended it in with my fingers. To set that I used Peaches ‘N Cream all over my eyelids on Zoeva’s Luxe Crease brush. Then, using Zoeva’s Luxe Petit Crease brush, I ran Puree just above my crease to create depth. I constantly blended with the Luxe Crease brush to diffuse the edges. I also ran Puree under my eyes with the same Petit Crease brush and joined it with the outer part of my eyeshadow on the top lid. I blended Summer Yum on the outer corner of my top and bottom lid with the Petit Crease brush to deapen the look up and add more depth and warmth. Then, using one side of the Cream Shader brush by Zoeva, I patted Caramelized on to the outer 2/3 of my mobile lid and lower lash line, using the other side of the same brush I then put Luscious on the inner 1/3. To finish the eyeshadows up I used Zoeva’s Luxe Pencil brush to put White Peach on the inner corner and along my brow bone. I then lined my upper water line and the outer 2/3 of my lower water line with Maybelline’s Color Show Crayon Kohl Eyeliner in Chocolate Chip and then finished off my eyes with the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara.

The Lips:

Because the Sweet Peach palette is so warm toned I wanted to create a nice warm toned, nude lip. To create this I used Chi Chi’s Stay on Lip Liner in It Girl to line and fill in my lips and then used Rimmel’s Apocalips Lip Velvet in Atomic Rose.

So there you have it! My Winter Too Faced Sweet Peach palette look. What do you think? Do you think you’ll recreate it?

Stay happy,
